Who We Are

OVERVIEW

By partnering with Surry Community College, the Yadkin Early College offers students a chance to earn a high school diploma, an associate’s degree, or a certificate program.    Located at the Yadkin Campus of Surry Community College in Yadkinville, students take high school and college courses designed to provide a pathway to a four-year college or university.  The five-year program gives students the opportunity to get a head start on their academic path.  We have learned that student success is in direct relation to a student’s work ethic.

WHY THE EARLY COLLEGE?

Project-based learning and lessons designed to promote full student participation can be found in each high school class.  Students are provided with a syllabus for each class, and rubrics are frequently used to show how grades relate to student effort applied.  Constructive feedback and positive affirmations are part of the school culture.  We strive to make certain that each student feels part of the learning process.

HOW DO I GET SELECTED?

Student completes an application with a recommendation from a current English or math teacher.  Copies of the application form are available from the middle school guidance counselor or on the Yadkin Early College website.

Yadkin Early College selection team thoroughly reviews applications.  Every effort is made to enroll a student body that represents the demographics of Yadkin County.

Students are notified of acceptance  before the end of the current school year.
